Toro Y Moi remixes Billie Holiday
South Carolina’s Toro Y Moi has collaborated with Verve Records to offer up a remix of the first lady of Jazz, Billie Holiday.
Putting his mark on the iconic ‘My Man’, Chazwick Bundick’s growling basslines find an unlikely home for Holiday’s timeless vocal.
The track is one of several on the upcoming compilation Verve Remixed: The First Ladies. The legendary jazz label is no stranger to opening up its back catalogue for remixes and Bundick joins the likes of Diplo, Tricky, Matthew Herbert and The Postal Service – who offered up a take on Nina Simone’s ‘Little Girl Blue‘ back in 2005.
