Tomberlin releases new EP opener "Hours"
Tomberlin is back with a third track from her upcoming Projections EP - the opening song "Hours".
The tender new song follows on from last month's lead single "Wasted" and her June cover of Casiotone For The Painfully Alone's "Natural Light".
According to Paste Magazine, Tomberlin says of her new release, ""Hours" is a song ruminating on time spent with someone who makes time spent doing nothing together feel meaningful. So many love songs are like ‘love me’ or ‘i love you’, but writing this I wasn’t sure what I was feeling or the other person’s feelings."
She continues, "I have a tendency to feel the need to explain myself before I’ve even been asked to. I think this song is me trying to do that in my head instead of with that person prematurely, even though I sent this song to them directly after I wrote it."
Projections will be Tomberlin's first collection of tracks since her 2018 debut LP At Weddings, and is co-produced by Alex G (Alex Giannascoli) and bandmate Sam Acchione. the EP was recorded at Giannascoli's Philadelphia apartment.
She says, "I wrote these songs while getting to know myself outside of people's perceived notions of who I was. I just started being like, What am I interested in? What do I want out of relationships and friendships? What am I looking for that I don't have in myself already?"
In December 2019, Tomberlin also teamed up with DIIV for a cover of Low's "Words".
