Tim Armstrong reunites Operation Ivy on new track
With Daft Punk, David Bowie, The Replacements and My Bloody Valentine all making comebacks, it was beginning to look like 2013 really didn’t have room for any more – but it looks like the year isn’t done dishing out surprises just yet, with Tim Armstrong and Jesse Michaels, the two core members of East Bay ska outfit Operation Ivy, reuniting for the first time in 24 years on the track ‘Living in a Dangerous Land’.
Armstrong, who went on with Matt Freeman to form punk-rock legends Rancid, is releasing the song as part of his Tim Timebomb and Friends singles series, so while it’s not quite a full scale reunion it’s certainly good enough. For now.
