Tiësto slams Daft Punk, says he's “destroying them right now”
DJ Tiësto and Daft Punk are two of the biggest names in entirely different fields of dance music, but the world-renowned Dutch trance DJ has taken time to criticise the French helmet heads in a interview with The Huffington Post, claiming that he’s “destroying them” right now.
In the recent interview, Tiësto holds back no punches when the topic of Daft Punk and their latest album, the hugely-successful Random Access Memories, is brought into the ring.
“It got so much attention because it’s so different and it’s an attitude album,” he says. “It’s cool to like Daft Punk. Even if you’re not into the song, as soon as you hear , you see all the cool people go, ‘Oh yeah, this is cool, that’s my song,’ and they don’t really even enjoy it.
Then the knock-out quote:
“I’m destroying them now… Sorry Daft Punk.”
He continues on to say: “But because it’s Daft Punk and they’re supposed to be cool and they had the amazing pyramid at Coachella a couple of years ago and the helmets — they’re fucking cool. But the music doesn’t deliver on the hype so much.”
Although Tiësto mentioned that he really liked Thomas Bangalter’s solo productions and also referred to Giorgio Moroder as a hero, it obviously didn’t stop him from hypothetically knocking the global superstars to the ground with his strong words.
Tiësto recently remixed Icona Pop’s number 1 hit ‘I Love It’, which you can listen to here.
