Thurston Moore to release new single inspired by Stoke Newington
It’s been one of East London’s most badly kept secrets that former Sonic Youth member Thurston Moore recently moved to the hipster hotspot of Stoke Newington. So enamoured by the area he is that he’s even releasing a new song inspired by “Stokey”.
Moore’s new band, aptly-named Thurston Moore UK, will release a limited-edition 7″ via Blank Editions in February 2014. One of the tracks “Detonation” is said to “pay homage to N16 London libertarian and communitarian activists” while the other, “Germs Burn”, is “a celebration shout to punk rock secret society love”.
Thurston Moore UK will support fellow Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo at London’s Garage later this month.
