There's two new record shops to check out in London
Vinyl lovers of London will be happy to hear there's two new record shops to explore.
With vinyl sales still sitting pretty high (This year's Record Store Day saw over 90,000 records sold on the special occassion), London has decided to welcome two new record shops into its core.
Bleep.com has brought a pop-up shop to Dalston in East London, which only opened its doors on Saturday (10 November), and is expected to stay until February 2019.
Open seven day a week, Bleep x will host a selection of DJ sets, album launches, demonstrations and partnerships with labels. Their calendar has already booked the likes of NTS Radio, Brainfeeder Records (Flying Lotus' label), The Wire and Resident Advisor in-store events. Find out more.
The second record shop to arrive in London is World Of Echo, which is named after Arthur Russell’s 1986 record.
Situated in Bethnal Green, World Of Echo will be selling "new, used and rare" vinyl that falls into the genres of early electronic music, krautrock, noise, EBM, punk, post-punk, industrial, jazz, art rock and DIY.
Co-founder Stephen Pietrzykowski said to Resident Advisor, "Curation is important to us, from a logistical perspective as much as anything else. Even if we wanted to, we couldn't stock all new releases, because there simply isn't space."
He adds, "It's vital to us that local labels and artists are supported within the shop, and we'll be trying our best to make sure we fit within the local surroundings and that the local residents feel connected to the shop."
