There's a new podcast on The National landing in February 2019
A new podcast series focused on The National called Coffee & Flowers is arriving early next year, with the first season delving into their Boxer record.
Coffee & Flowers will be hosted by journalists Christopher Hooton and David Rapson, and will be spread over 12 episodes.
So far the confirmed guests across the series includes The National's own Matt Berninger - who is a guest for every episode - and Aaron Dessner, their producer Peter Katis, author Jonathan Ames, and Berninger's wife Carin Besser.
Expanding on their upcoming project, Hooton explains to Pitchfork, "We believe Matt’s lyrics amount to some of the finest poetry written this century. With Coffee & Flowers, we hope to explain why this band means so much to so many people, and why it could to those who have yet to dive in.”
Coffee & Flowers have shared a small taster on Instagram, with Berninger explaining of Boxer, "It all felt like a last chance to be a band. Like, who puts out four records that don’t get much attention? We made two that got none, one that got a little, if this one didn’t get a lot, it was over.”
"It felt like the last chance to actually be a band. If this album didn't work, it was over..."
