The Word magazine set to close next month
One of the most respected UK music magazines, The Word have announced their closure.
David Hepworth, one of the founding partners of Development Hell Ltd which publishes the mag, revealed today that the August issue, which will be published in the second week of July, shall be the last.
Hepworth released a statement that discussed the reasoning, subsequently financial, behind the decision:
“In the nine years since the magazine launched there have been dramatic changes in the media and the music business. These changes have made it more difficult for a small independent magazine to survive and provide its staff with a living. This hasn’t been made any easier by the economic climate of the wider world.”
