The Weeknd to voice a character in new episode of The Simpsons
The Weeknd will voice a character in an upcoming episode of The Simpsons that will air later this month.
As Pitchfork reports, The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, will lend his voice to a character in The Simpsons' upcoming episode "Bart the Cool Kid", which will air on 20 March.
The same episode is also due to star Michael Rapaport, and will see Homer lead a rebellion with other dads after Bart becomes friends with a influencer.
Back in 2020, Tesfaye starred in an episode of American Dad, which featured an original song titled "I'm A Virgin". At the time, he told Variety, "American Dad was everything I wanted. It’s going to be hard to beat this in the TV cartoon world, but an obvious bucket list would be to work on The Simpsons. That would be a dream - and if they’re reading this, I actually have a pretty cool idea if they’re down."
Last month The Weeknd's "Save Your Tears" won the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry's (IFPI) 2021 Global Digital Single Award. He also won the same award in 2020 for "Blinding Lights".
