The Weeknd teases release of new album: "Let's just drop the whole thing"
The Weeknd has given an update on the release of his new album with a screenshot of some messages that sees him write, "Let's just drop the whole thing".
After The Weeknd confirmed in October 2021 that his follow-up to 2020's After Hours was "complete", The Weeknd has teased that the album could be arriving sooner rather than later with his latest Instagram posts.
To mark the start of 2022, The Weeknd shared a screenshot of some messages with XO Records co-founder La Mar Taylor. When asked what he's thinking, The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye responded, "Happy new year! Everything feels chaotic again. Music can heal and that feels more important than another album rollout. Let's just drop the whole thing and enjoy it with the people."

Tesfaye has had a busy few months following the release of his August single "Take My Breath". He's collaborated with Kanye West, Belly, Swedish House Mafia and Post Malone, and more recently featured on Rosalía's "LA FAMA", FKA twigs' "Tears In The Club" and Aaliyah's posthumous single "Poison".
