The Weeknd, Stormzy and Doja Cat reportedly being considered for Black Panther 2 soundtrack
An insider has reportedly revealed that The Weeknd, Stormzy and Doja Cat are among the artists being considered for the second Black Panther film soundtrack.
In February it'll be four years since the first Black Panther film was released. The first film also featured a soundtrack executive produced by Kendrick Lamar, and featured songs with SZA, Anderson .Paak and James Blake, Future, Jay Rock, The Weeknd and Lamar himself.
According to a new piece by Metro UK, an unnamed source has revealed that producers are considering The Weeknd, Stormzy, Doja Cat, Solange, Giveon and Brent Faiyaz for the sequel's soundtrack.
"Doja Cat is one of the artists who is in line to perform on the soundtrack because of her South African heritage," the source reportedly said. "The Weeknd, Solange and Stormzy are also being considered as the producers want a wide range of smash hit artists to make this soundtrack bigger than the first."
The insider added, "They’ve finalised the storyline so have started courting artists to start writing songs with it in mind."
Metro UK also reported that Tory Lanez was in the running for the second Black Panther film soundtrack, but it's unlikely he'll make the cut due to his trial over the alleged shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
The source also reportedly revealed that there's discussions about some of the artists making cameos in the film, "There’s talk of a few of them making cameos but that’s still being discussed."
