The Range unveils new single "Urethane"
The Range has delivered new single "Urethane" as a third preview of his first album in six years, Mercury.
"Urethane" follows previous singles "Ricercar" and "Bicameral", and sees The Range, real name James Hinton, sample M.I.K's "Ice Rink".
The new track arrives with another Stevie Gee and Essy May-directed video.
Hinton says of the new release, "The lyrics 'last year man got left in the dark - cause man didn’t really have nothing to say’ hit me hard as I was feeling pretty left out and forgotten. I had moved from the thick of it in Brooklyn to rural Vermont, and in late winter 2019 and I felt like I had a mutually agreed upon separation from the world. Those lyrics were defiant to me and I liked that as a way of fighting back against that feeling."
Mercury will follow 2016's Potential.
"Mercury is my most wide-ranging album yet," Hinton explained last month. "My memories of rave music, grime and MPC music are playing heavily in almost every song."
