The next Vampire Weekend record is "80% done"
Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig has said that the band's next record is "80% done" but that the final stretch is "always the hardest".
The frontman was responding to a (pie-themed) fan Q on Twitter:
80% done but the last 20% is always the hardest
— Ezra Koenig (@arzE) September 4, 2017
The new record, which has the working title Mitsubishi Macchiato, will follow up 2013's Modern Vampires Of The City. It will be the first without founding member and producer Rostam Batmanglij, who left the band last year to work on his solo material.
Although all's been quiet on the Vampire Weekend front for a long while, the various members have kept busy - Koenig spent time collaborating with Beyoncé and Chris Baio has released two albums as BAIO.
- Brat is the music critics album of the year for 2024
- Lady Gaga says Bruno Mars collaboration was the "missing piece" of LG7
- UCHE YARA releases final track of the year, "as I left the room"
- Alabama Shakes play their first show in over seven years
- Paul McCartney joined by Ringo Starr and Ronnie Wood for closing night of Got Back tour
- Watch Clarissa Connelly cover "Moonlight Shadow" in session at End of the Road Festival
- FINNEAS, Barry Can't Swim, Foster The People and more join NOS Alive 2025
