The National's Bryce Dessner announces new album
The National's Bryce Dessner is to release a new album called Music for Wood and Strings.
The follow up to Bryce Dessner's composing debut Aheym, Music for Wood and Strings was first performed by New York collective Sō Percussion in 2013. The ensemble have now recorded the piece, to see release next month.
Dessner has also announced the premiere of a new piece, entitled “Quilting," on 28 May. It will be performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Walt Disney Concert Hall is as a part of their Next On Grand series. Of the new piece, Dessner described the following: “every quilt has a story. I’m drawn to their symbolism, the communal aspect, the process by which they’re made.”
Music for Wood and Strings will be released on 19 May.
