The National to release new documentary directed by Matt Berninger's brother
A new documentary on The National is set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York during April and will be directed by none other than frontman Matt Berninger’s brother.
Tom Berninger (pictured above, right) has produced Mistaken for Strangers, which follows the band through their writing and recording of 2010 album High Violet.
It follows on from the same kind of thing the band did in 2008, when they released a documentary surrounding Boxer in the form of A Skin, a Night.
Berninger (the film-maker, not singer) said of the project:
“When my brother asked me along on tour as a roadie, I thought I might as well bring a camera to film the experience. What started as a pretty modest tour documentary has, over the last two and a half years, grown into something much more personal, and hopefully more entertaining.”
This comes in the same week that the band announce that they’ll be releasing their new album in May.
