The National cancel shows in Russia and Ukraine following political conflict

Matt Berninger and co, The National have scrapped a series of dates in Russia and Ukraine due to ongoing political unrest in the region.
The Brooklyn band had been previously scheduled to play shows in Kiev, St. Petersburg and Moscow during July and August, now announcing that they’ll no longer take place.
“We remain hopeful of coming to play for you in the future and we sincerely hope this current instability resolves in a positive, democratic and peaceful way,” the band wrote on Facebook. “Take care of yourselves and we hope to see you soon.”
Last year, The National canceled a show in Turkey due to police violence towards protesters in Istanbul.
