The Monkees to release first LP in 20 years co-written with Rivers Cuomo, Ben Gibbard and more
'60s popstars The Monkees are releasing Good Times, their first album in 20 years later this year, with Weezer's Rivers Cuomo, Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard, and more involved.
Original Monkees Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork, and Michael Nesmith all return - Davy Jones sadly passed away in 2012.
As well as Gibbard and Cuomo, XTC's Andy Partidge and Rogue Waves' Zach Schwartz are contributing to the songwriting side, while Fountains Of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger is on production duties. Nesmith and Tork wrote a song each for the LP.
Good Times will also feature a selection of unfinished material from their early days in the 1960s - with co-writes from Neil Diamond and Harry Nilsson apparently included, as well backing music from The Wrecking Crew.
The album also acts a celebration of the band's 50th anniversary.
Good Times is out 10 June on Rhino. There are plans for The Monkees to tour in support at some point in 2016.
