The Libertines to open Margate hotel The Albion Rooms later this month
The Libertines have finally announced that their Margate hotel The Albion Rooms will have its grand opening later this month.
Carl Barât, Pete Doherty, John Hassall and Gary Powell have confirmed that their boutique hotel in Margate is opening towards the end of the month.
The Libertines have been working on the project for three years, and last year they opened the first part of their hotel, The Waste Land bar.
Their hotel is located in a five-storey Victorian building that overlooks the sea, and there's seven individually decorated rooms curated by the band.
Doherty describes the hotel as "A fine Arcadian bolthole, a perfect place for prophets new inspired, to recline, write, record, with rejoicing and knees up a plenty." Barât adds, "It might be a while before we challenge The Savoy or The Grand Budapest in the hotel stakes, but we’ve put a lot of love into this. Meanwhile it’s a colourful and inspiring home for the Libertines and I look forward to the Albion Rooms being our very own Warholian Factory."
Albion Rooms also includes a restaurant, coffee shop, two bars and a recording studio, and will also be used to host art installations from local artists.
