The Lemon Twigs high kick their way to glory at End Of The Road
Long Island four-piece The Lemon Twigs brought the razzle-dazzle to End of the Road this Saturday with their all-singing, all-star-jumping glam rock extravaganza.
The brothers D'Addario, clad respectively in a set-top orange shirt and face make-up swiped from KISS aren't shy about wearing their influences on their flared sleeves (The Beatles, Brian Wilson, Harry Nilsson, T-Rex), but their baroque guitar odysseys and doo-wop ballads are so skillfully constructed that they stay well on the right side of pastiche.
Somewhat inevitably, their high energy performance spilled beyond the stage as David D'Addario leapt down to the barrier and alternately threw shapes and shredded guitars at the audience, but despite the antics and high kicks, the highlight of the set was the singalong rendition of "As Long As We're Together". The Lemon Twigs may have shedloads of style, but it's their substance that makes them compelling.
