The Leisure Society announce double album with lead single "God Has Taken A Vacation"
The Leisure Society have announced their fifth LP Arrivals & Departures alongside their relaxing lead single "God Has Taken A Vacation".
"God Has Taken A Vacation" is instrumentally pleasant, contradicted by the sorrowful lyrics penned by frontman Nick Hemming following his break up with flautist Helen Whitaker. He explains, "I started writing the song about my break up, but world events started finding their way in too. Division, borders, a loss of hope. There were a lot of shared themes!"
The Leisure Society's new single is the first taster of their 16-track fifth album Arrivals & Departures, their first since 2015's The Fine Art Of Hanging On.
Arrivals & Departures was recorded between the Peak District, the Cotswolds, and a medieval mansion in Richelieu, France. The string instrumentals and choral pieces were captured during a sneaky late-night visit to London's Union Chapel in Islington.
The record features contributions from Brian Eno and poet Liz Berry. It was mixed by Gareth Jones (Grizzly Bear, Nick Cave, These New Puritans) and Paul Gregory (Lanterns On The Lake).
