The Golden Dregs release new song "Ultimate Fighting Champion"
The Golden Dregs have released new track "Ultimate Fighting Champion", which will feature on 7” single with previous outing "John".
"Ultimate Fighting Champion" follows July's "John", both of which feature on a new 7" single. The new song is produced by The Golden Dregs' Benjamin Woods, mixed by Larry Crane (M Ward, Elliott Smith, Moon Duo) and mastered by Mikey Young.
Woods says of the new track, "I’ve managed to get to this point in my life without ever throwing or receiving a punch. I don’t know if its out due to cowardice, or that my family are pacifists.. or that I’m excellent at conflict resolution. I know the latter certainly isn’t true. And as a result, I am kinda freaked out by the prospect of getting into a physical fight. I wouldn’t know what to do. And my heart races whenever I feel a situation's headed in that direction. Or I’m walking home late and it’s all kicking off on the street."
"Walking home down Rye Lane one night I saw a guy outside a bar getting bludgeoned by a couple of lads," Woods adds. "I remember hearing a lot about some big Conor McGregor fight around the same time, and it just struck me as so odd that people do that sort of thing for sport. I tried to imagine wanting something so much that I’d want to physically pain someone else for it. That’s what this song is about."
