The Doors drummer in talks over live reunion with surviving member
John Densmore, former drummer of The Doors, is holding hopes for a live reunion of sorts with the other surviving member of the legendary psych-rock group, Robby Krieger.
Speaking in interview to Rolling Stone recently, Densmore told the publication that the recent death of keyboardist Ray Manzarek, whom Densmore experienced legal issues with during his final years, influenced his decision to reach out.
“I said to Robby a few weeks ago in an email: ‘Let’s have our musical reunion for Ray. Let’s play some Doors songs at the Whisky or Wiltern – there’s a lot of great musicians in LA that we know and love and admire the band. I’d like to break the ice that way’. It should happen pretty soon”.
Densmore and Krieger have not played live together since the ’70s.
