The Amazing Snakeheads' Dale Barclay launches campaign to fund brain cancer treatment

01 August 2018, 13:13 | Written by Cerys Kenneally

Dale Barclay of The Amazing Snakeheads has been undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with brain cancer. He's launched a campaign to get help for the financial side of the treatment.

The Amazing Snakeheads, And Yet It Moves, and former Fat White Family member Dale Barclay has launched a heartfelt GoFundMe campaign to help with the costs of tackling his brain cancer.

The campaign reveals that Barclay was diagnosed in December 2017, and has "grade 4 Glioblastoma brain cancer".

After enduring craniotomy, the tumour was initially reduced by 90%. The Amazing Snakeheads vocalist then went on to do six weeks of radiotherapy, followed by six months of trials and chemotherapy.

Barclay details, "The cancer has returned. The fight continues with the power to face it raging in me."

Fellow musicians and friends have been supporting Barclay on socials.

Reaching out to his fans and the public to help with medical costs, Barclay states, "The NHS have been stellar, true heroes - too many to mention. They have done everything in their power for me, but my treatment from here on out is going to cost money. I need specialist care. I am officially a customer. This is the reality. "

The musician has set a goal of £40,000, and has just passed the first quarter mark.

The Amazing Snakeheads only dished out one album before splitting in 2015, which was 2014's Amphetamine Ballads. Find more details on Barclay's GoFundMe. Revisit when The Amazing Snakeheads went backstage with Best Fit.
