The Afghan Whigs announce new record In Spades and share lead single "Demon In Profile"
The Afghan Whigs have announced new album In Spades and unveiled the swaggering first single, "Demon In Profile".
Frequent collaborator Phil Harder has directed the brilliantly bizarre new Har Mar Superstar-starring video for "Demon In Profile", an incisive slug of soul-infused rock - bristly riffs jut out and smooth beats roll behind doom-laden vocals.
In Spades is written and produced by Greg Dulli, and was recorded across the USA - including in New Orleans, Memphis, Joshua Tree, and Los Angeles. It's the follow up to 2014's exceptional Do To The Beast LP.
"It’s a spooky record," says Dulli. "I like that it’s veiled. It’s not a concept album per se, but as I began to assemble it, I saw an arc and followed it. To me it’s about memory - in particular, how quickly life and memory can blur together."
The band have a huge list of dates across Europe planned from May, including a show at London's KOKO on 30 May, with Ed Harcourt supporting. Find out their full live plans.
