The 1975 stage massive comeback with "Love Me"
The 1975 have announced their return in a big way - with new single "Love Me".
The track debuted on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show as the Hottest Record In The World, and arrives following an extensive social media tease by the band.
Ditching the noir-y aesthetics of album one, the indie-pop quartet have employed neon pinks and calming white tones. "Love Me" embraces that change, and sees the Manchester outfit whip out chunky '80s riffs (Duran Duran and/or Prince spring to mind), huge shivering hooks, sassy solos, enormous funk, tongue-in-cheek glitz, and more pop pleasures than seems humanly possible. Describing the track ahead of its airing, the band said succinctly: "It's about narcissism."
Debut LP The 1975 is out now via Dirty Hit. Its eagerly anticipated follow up, boasting 17 tracks, is due out in February. Taking a leaf from Fall Out Boy's book, they've named it I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It.
