The 1975 scoop two BRIT nominations
The 1975 have been nominated for British Group and Album of the Year at this year's BRIT Awards, squaring up against the likes of Little Mix, Years and Years, Arctic Monkeys and Anne-Marie.
They were named earlier tonight by presenter Clara Amfo during ITV1's nominations show The BRITs are Coming!
While A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships came up strong in 2018's end-year lists - topping both NME and SPIN's countdown - it faces strong competition in the Best Album category from Florence and The Machine, Anne-Marie, George Ezra and Jorja Smith. Ezra and Anne-Marie in particular ended 2018 in good form with Ezra's Staying at Tamara's named as the second biggest album of the year, and Anne-Marie's debut Speak Your Mind the biggest debut.
The Dirty Hit-signed band were nominated at the BRITs two years ago for Best Album, losing out to Blackstar by David Bowie, but winning best British Group. This year they face Arctic Monkeys, Little Mix, Years & Years and Gorillaz - who won last year - in that category.
The BRIT Awards takes place on 20 February and a full list of nominees can be found at brits.co.uk.
