Tegan and Sara assemble star-stuffed lineup for The Con covers record
Tegan and Sara have roped in some big name pals for a cover record celebrating 10 years of their legendary The Con LP.
Shura, Bleachers, MUNA, Shamir, Trashique (Grimes and Hana), CHVRCHES, Paramore's Hayley Williams, Kelly Lee Owens, Mykki Blanco, Ryan Adams, Cyndi freaking Lauper, and more are involved in the 18-track record, dubbed The Con X: Covers. It's out 20 October (22 December on vinyl), with all proceeds being donated to The Tegan and Sara Foundation.
"From day one we wanted the proceeds to go to our newly-launched foundation," the duo say in a statement. "With that intention set, we asked 14 artists who were either outspoken allies of the LGTBQ community or LGBTQ themselves to each cover a song from The Con. We encouraged each artist to approach the song they were covering in any fashion they saw fit. Their inspiration could come from the original record or The Con Demos, our first home recordings that were released after The Con came out. All the artists agreed to donate their time and energy to the project and their labels all agreed to waive their fees as well."
Tegan and Sara's latest record Love You To Death was released last year.
