TDE's Punch on SZA's album delay: "An announcement will be coming sooner than you think"
Top Dawg Entertainment's Punch has responded to SZA's recent comment revealing that her second album has been delayed again, revealing that "An announcement will be coming sooner than you think."
Back in May, SZA said at the Met Gala that it'll be a "SZA summer" and that her follow-up to 2017's Ctrl was "finally like ready to go", but in a new Instagram comment responding to a fan asking about her second album, SZA claimed it's being held back.
SZA wrote, "It's 100% Punch and RCA on this one. I wanted the summer. They wanted more time. Atp [at this point] I'm jus tryna have a good time stress free lol."
HotNewHipHop reports that Punch responded In a now-deleted tweet shared yesterday (21 July), writing, "I guess I should give a bit of context. SZA and myself initially spoke about a summertime album. Which is why she mentioned summer in a post-Grammys interview. Shortly after discussing everything with RCA and Top, we decided it was best to do it a little bit later to set everything up correctly, giving it its proper space and lead time."
"There is a lot that goes into putting out a album and especially one with this much anticipation," he added. "We thank you for your continued patience and understanding. An announcement will be coming sooner than you think."
