Taylor Swift to release new song "Only The Young" with upcoming Netflix documentary Miss Americana
Taylor Swift will debut her new song "Only The Young" alongside her upcoming Netflix documentary Miss Americana at the end of this month.
According to Variety, Swift recorded "Only The Young" during her Lover sessions, but has been waiting for the right occasion to release it.
The track will feature on the credits in Swift's new Netflix documentary Miss Americana, which will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival tomorrow (23 January), and will be available on Netflix from 31 January.
Speaking to Variety about her new song, Swift says, "I wrote it after the midterm elections, when there were so many young people who rallied for their candidate, whether it was a senator or congressman or congresswoman. It was hard to see so many people feel like they had canvassed and done everything and tried so hard. I saw a lot of young people’s hopes dashed. And I found that to be particularly tragic, because young people are the people who feel the worst effects of gun violence, and student loans and trying to figure out how to start their lives and how to pay their bills, and climate change, and are we going to war - all these horrific situations that we find ourselves facing right now."
Last month, Netflix posted a still from Swift's new documentary, and revealed it's directed by Lana Wilson. The synopsis reads: "A raw and emotionally revealing look at one of the most iconic artists of our time as she learns to embrace her role not only as a songwriter and performer, but as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice."
