Tate Britain is hosting an exhibition featuring grime MCs painted as aristocrats
Tate Britain is showcasing Reuben Dangoor's portraits of grime stars as aristocrats, Legends Of The Scene.
Late At Tate Britain, an evening of forward-thinking art at the gallery, will also feature live performances and DJ sets from Bip Ling, Joey Fourr, Reprezent Radio, and Kurupt FM.
The event aims to "tackle the cult of the celebrity through music, art, and talks" and is curated by 15-25 year olds from the Tate Collective London, an organisation which hosts free "festivals for young people to experiment, create and innovate through art and ideas".
Dangoor, a 27-year-old self-taught North Londoner, rose to prominence earlier this year for his subversive paintings of the likes of Stormzy, Skepta, DDE, Wiley, and Dizzee Rascal, portraying them as lords of the manor, landed gentry, swaggering nobility, and hifalutin generals, and you can now see these works of art in a proper gallery.
Late At Tate Britain takes place on 4 December.
