Tanya Tagaq streams new single "Uja"
Canadian art-folk musician Tanya Tagaq has released a new track called "Uja" to preview her upcoming record Animism.
Tagaq, a Bjork collaborator, wields provocative and confrontational music. "Uja" is in line with that m.o., using a blend of traditional Inuit throat-singing, avante-garde post-punk and experimental rock. It's unfathomably fascinating, full of dark corners from which Tagaq erupts, and primal bloodlust that begs you to move. You can watch her perform it at last year's Polaris Awards ceremony - it's spectacular.
Tagaq's Polaris-winning LP Animism is due out 26 January via Six Shooter. She will also headline London's Village Underground 19 May.
