Tangerine Dream share new covers of the Stranger Things soundtrack
Pioneering German outfit Tangerine Dream have shared their versions of S U R V I V E's Stranger Things soundtrack.
Weaving the ominous theme tune into their own experiments, Tangerine Dream's two tracks (three including a glitchless edit) could easily be mistaken for 'official' parts of the soundtrack. But perhaps that's not super surprising given that the band were a big influence on the score for the hit Netflix series.
Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein of S U R V I V E haven't been coy about their homages to Tangerine Dream, as well as horror master John Carpenter. "Exit", from Tangerine Dream's '81 LP of the same name, even appears in Stranger Things.
Tangerine Dream's lineup has varied greatly since the band's arrival in 1967, with frontman Edgar Froese the solo constant until his death in January 2015. The band is now a trio comprising multi-instrumentalist Thorsten Quaeschning, violinist/cellist Hoshiko Yamane, and keys player Ulrich Schnauss.
A big part of Stranger Things' magic is the music - with the second season recently confirmed, we came up with 10 tracks we wanna hear on the show.
