Tallinn Music Week 2022 to take place across two cities
Tallinn Music Week has announced that this year's event will take place across the two Estonian cities of Tallinn and Narva.
The 14th edition of Tallinn Music Week is set to take place in two Estonian cities this year - the capital Tallinn, and eastern city Narva - which is a "a statement of solidarity" according to festival founder and director Helen Sildna.
The two-city event will take place in Tallinn from 4-6 May, and in Narva from 7-8 May.
Sildna explains, "On 24th February the world changed. And it concerns us all. Tallinn Music Week is taking place for the 14th time. Since 2018 we have also been organising Station Narva in the easternmost border city of Estonia, where the European Union starts. TMW2022 will take place in Tallinn and Narva as a statement of solidarity: each of us in Europe is as safe and strong as our border states and communities. We would like to invite you on a journey with us. We hope that it will be a unifying and insightful experience proving that music and culture can bring collaboration and solidarity. We are all connected. Unity is our defence."
"Our thoughts are with everyone in Ukraine fighting for their lives in an unjust war started by the Russian regime, as well as with artists and partners in Russia, many of whom are risking their livelihoods by protesting on the streets," Sildna added.
TMW 2022 will team up with the @StationNarva festival for a unique cross-country experience to celebrate togetherness. The joint event starts on 4 - 6 May in Tallinn and continues on 7 - 8 May in Narva. More info: https://t.co/rDlLzc76ta

The Mayor of Narva Katri Raik said, "Music unites people, music is one of the best healers of political wounds. That is why Tallinn Music Week is especially welcome in Narva. And it is also a time to say it loud and proud that Narva, together with our good partners, will do everything to make Narva a European Capital of Culture in 2037."
Tallinn Music Week is also offering Ukrainian musicians a two-month residency programme to enable them to live with their families in Estonia, make music in the local recording studios and work in Tallinn’s Telliskivi Creative City. Both cities will also welcome Ukrainian refugee children and teenagers as part of the Tallinn Music Week kids and youth programme.
