A member of the Swiss underground metal scene has launched a crowd funding project to help the filmmaker behind Syrian Metal Is War complete the project.
The funding project is led by the bass player of acclaimed Fribourg-based stoner rock band Dog Days, Marie Alice Riley who saw a teaser for the film back in 2014.
Since the teaser was released, filmaker Monzer Darwish, was forced to flee Syria and is now residing in a small town near Amsterdam away from family and friends, musical instruments and film equipment. As such the film has been put on hold.
Not content to let the film remain in pieces, Riley has been in regular contact with Darwish and offered her support, knowing it would be a tragedy to not have this film in the world.
If the crowd funding project reaches its goal by 3pm BST tomorrow, Darwish can afford to buy the equipment necessary to finish.
The trailer features some fascinating interviews with musicians who are risking their lives on a daily basis, to live their dream of sharing their music with as many people as possible.
