Sweden drops investigation against man involved in A$AP Rocky altercation
Sweden has dropped the investigation against a man involved in the A$AP Rocky altercation earlier this month.
Earlier this month, A$AP Rocky was arrested in Stockholm on suspicion of assault. He's already been detained for three weeks while the investigation has been carried out.
CNN reports that the investigation into the man that was allegedly involved with the altercation has been dropped.
Magnus Stromberg, the man's lawyer, said, "He has been the subject of an assault, but he has not committed a crime."
The Swedish prosecutors confirmed that the man is no longer suspected of any crime.
On Saturday (20 July), US President Donald Trump revealed on Twitter that the Swedish Prime Minister Steven Löfven "assured me that American citizen A$AP Rocky will be treated fairly," and added that Trump had "offered to personally vouch for his bail."
The New York Times shared a statement from Swedish Prime Minister's press secretary Toni Eriksson, who said that the Prime Minister "underlined that in Sweden everyone is equal before the law and that the government cannot and will not attempt to influence the legal proceedings."
Swedish prosecutor Daniel Suneson will come to a decision as to whether A$AP Rocky will be released, charged, or remain detained on Thursday (July 25).
