Swans release live double album Not Here/Not Now to fund new record
Increasingly prolific since their reformation in 2010, Swans have announced a new live LP before heading into the studio to start recording new material shortly.
Michael Gira and co, who released comeback LP My Father Will Guide Me up a Rope to the Sky in 2010 before its follow-up The Seer last year, have confirmed that they’ll start work on a new studio album after this release, with Not Here/Not Now directly funding its cost.
“The songs on the CDs are live Swans recordings culled from the recent 2012/2013 tours”, a statement on the Young Gods website reads. “Most of the songs have not yet been recorded as studio versions – this is new material, in progress. The collection also includes two crude demo recordings by M. Gira, of additional new material to be recorded for the upcoming new Swans studio album.”
The standard CD version of the album costs $44, while additional bonus packages are priced as high as $500.
