Susanna releases new cut "The Vampire"
Susanna has dropped "The Vampire" as the fourth preview of her upcoming album Baudelaire & Piano.
"The Vampire" arrives after previous releases "Longing for Nothingness", "Burial" and "The Dancing Snake".
Susanna says of the new single, ""The Vampire" was one of six poems from Baudelaire's masterpiece which was forbidden by law, and censored for being ‘obscene’ in Paris in 1857. That is interesting in itself, but I was first and foremost struck by the intensity in the poem. The vampire is a strong image of being captured in an emotional, almost abusive, chaos."
Baudelaire & Piano was recorded at Stockholm's Atlantis Studio, and is inspired by French poet Charles Baudelaire. It's also Susanna's first solo album since 2018's Go Dig My Grave.
Discussing the new LP, Susanna says, "I wanted to approach this material in an almost dogmaCc way. To present the songs in a naked, stripped-down form, alone at the piano. These poems have so many layers and contain such rich expanding emotions to me."
