Sun Kil Moon's Mark Kozelek "unconditionally" denies sexual assault allegations
Mark Kozelek of Sun Kil Moon has released a statement in which he "unconditionally" denies the sexual assault allegations made against him last week.
Following on from Sun Kil Moon's forthcoming UK tour being cancelled in the wake of the sexual assault allegations made against Mark Kozelek, the musician has broken his silence on the allegations.
The allegations made against Kozelek were published by Pitchfork last week. He's been accused of sexual misconduct by three women, including an accusation of non-consensual sex.
As The Guardian reports, the 53-year-old musician said in a statement, "It is important that I publicly and unconditionally deny that I engaged in the inappropriate and disturbing incidents falsely depicted in the media. While I support the important work of addressing legitimate claims of sexual misconduct, I reject the false allegations and innuendo in the recent press."
The musician also revealed he had hired lawyers "to investigate and to pursue as necessary any claims against anyone participating to defame me in the media".
Kozelek's response arrives after Pitchfork noted he hadn't responded to more than a dozen requests for comment over the space of a few months.
