Sufjan Stevens shares two alternate versions of "Fourth of July"
Sufjan Stevens has released two alternate versions of his Carrie & Lowell track "Fourth of July" to mark his birthday today (1 July).
The April Base version of "Fourth of July" was recorded at Justin Vernon's April Base studio in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, while the Dumbo version was recorded at Stevens' old home studio in Brooklyn New York. Both were reccorded around 2014, and have been released today (1 July) to coincide with Stevens' birthday.
The original track featured on Stevens' 2015 album Carrie & Lowell.
Stevens will also release the April Base and Dumbo versions of "Fourth of July" as a limited 7" red vinyl in December to mark the 10-year anniversary of his mum Carrie's death, which is available to pre-order now.
