Strand Of Oaks shares new single "Ruby"
Tim Showalter, aka Strand Of Oaks, shares new single "Ruby" from his upcoming record Eraserland.
"Ruby" is the second track to be shared from Showalter's sixth album under Strand Of Oaks, after last month's "Weird Ways".
On the new single, Showalter says, ""Ruby" is the happiest song I’ve ever written. "Ruby" isn’t a person, rather the concept of time and memory and how with every passing year it becomes non linear. In the past I would’ve dismissed such unabashedly pure optimism, but I’ve been through a lot and I’ve learned to appreciate those rare moments of light."
Eraserland is the first record from Strand Of Oaks since last year's Harder Love.
The new album saw Showalter recruit some members of My Morning Jacket as his backing band. He explains, "When I was writing these songs, every day I would walk on the beach and I was completely alone and overwhelmed by fear … but then I realized how there really aren’t any rules for who you are, who you’ll become, or who you think you need to be. Eraserland is just that. It’s death to ego, and rebirth to anything or anyone you want to be."
