Stella Donnelly previews new album with third cut "How Was Your Day?"
Stella Donnelly has delivered a third outing from her upcoming second album Flood titled "How Was Your Day?".
"How Was Your Day?" will appear on Donnelly's Flood album with earlier outings "Flood" and "Lungs", and lands with a video directed by Nick Mckk and Claire Giuffre.
"This is my attempt at building a song out of a very specific dynamic between two monogamously involved people," Donnelly explains. "The verses are just excerpts from real conversations, fragments of what two people talk about when they both know they need to have a real talk but neither wants to be the one to bring it up. This song came out of lockdown and seeing a lot of friends break up or get married."
Flood will follow Donnelly's 2019 debut album Beware of the Dogs. She wrote the album with band members Jennifer Aslett, George Foster, Jack Gaby and Marcel Tussie, and co-produced the record with Anna Laverty and Methyl Ethyl’s Jake Webb.
A press release states that Donnelly wrote 43 tracks for the new album while moving around Australia. While in the rainforests of Bellingen, Donnelly picked up birdwatching, and was "able to lose that feeling of anyone’s reaction to me. I forgot who I was as a musician, which was a humbling experience of just being; being my small self."
