St Germain announces first album in 15 years
French downtempo producer St Germain is back after a 15 year absence with news of both a new record and a new single.
The self-titled album follows 2000's Tourist, his multi-platinum acid-jazz record.
St Germain, real name Ludovic Navarre, has worked with musicians from Africa on the record, which features traditional Malian influences and instruments (kora, balafon, n'goni to name a few) and his own inimitable style of electronica.
"Real Blues" features the vocals of Lightnin’ Hopkins, backed by a swirling melange of pitched percussion, electronic beats and African strings, to create a hypnotic, exotic dance track.
St Germain is out 9 October. The lead single/title track is out now.
St Germain will be playing European venues throughout this coming winter, including London's Troxy on 17 November.
