Spotify remove R. Kelly's music from their editorial playlists
R. Kelly's music will still be available on Spotify, but will be removed from editorial playlists under the new Hate Content & Hateful Conduct policy.
Under the new policy, Spotify will no longer be promoting R. Kelly's music, and Spotify users won't be able to find his tracks on any playlists created by the company.
In a statement on Billboard, Spotify explained, "His music will still be available on the service, but Spotify will not actively promote it. We don’t censor content because of an artist’s or creator’s behavior, but we want our editorial decisions -- what we choose to program -- to reflect our values. When an artist or creator does something that is especially harmful or hateful, it may affect the ways we work with or support that artist or creator."
This follows from a string of sexual harrassment accusations towards the American singer/songwriter.
