Spotify founder and CEO Daniel Ek is due to launch an Arsenal takeover bid with help from three players from The Invincibles team of 2003/04.

Last Friday (23 April) Daniel Ek tweeted: "As a kid growing up, I’ve cheered for Arsenal as long as I can remember. If KSE would like to sell Arsenal I'd be happy to throw my hat in the ring" in response to the recent protests over Stan Kroenke's position at the club, after Kroenke put Arsenal in the controversial European Super League, which has since seen all six Premier League teams pull out.

Despite Ek's interest in buying Arsenal being questioned by musicians, including Tim Burgess, who wrote on Twitter, "Could we ask that you get things sorted out with musicians before jumping in with footballers??", Ek has recruited three former Invincibles legends to launch his Arsenal takeover bid, according to The Telegraph.

Those on board to help with Ek's campaign include Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp, all of which played as part of The Invincibles team during Arsenal's 2003/04 season.

A formal offer is expected to be presented to Kroenke, but apparently his son Josh Kroenke has made it clear to Arsenal shareholders that Kroenke Sports & Entertainment have no desire to sell.

Henry told The Telegraph, "I do not recognise my club and what happened just now, with them trying to join a league that would have been closed, makes no sense to me." He added, "They have been running the club like a company, not a football club, and they showed their hand."
