Sportsman shares his Autumn playlist ahead of Ja Ja Ja appearance
Next week Best Fit is teaming up with our long term loves Ja Ja Ja to bring the best in new Nordic music to London's The Lexington on 26 October.
Iceland's incendiary rapper GKR, Norway's next pop queen Fanny Andersen and Sweden's dream-pop master Sportsman are all playing what should be a fantastic night of music.
Ahead of his headline show, Per Magnusson - aka Sportsman - has shared with us a playlist of music perfectly suited for the Autumn season. ”Autumn is the best. The air is crisp and every single tree turns into
a piece of art. It's melancholic – but at the same time – a fresh start," says the Swede. "The main part of Neverland was recorded late September, early October. Some of the songs on the album I specifically think of as autumn songs, like 'Cheetahs', 'September Air' and 'Frank'. Here's a couple of songs that capture autumn to me.”
Featuring the likes of HNNY, Four Tet and Taylor Swift, the playlist also features Sportsman's new single "Cheetahs". "Cheetahs was the first song I wrote for Neverland," says Magnusson, "and it's one of my
favourites. We recorded it on Öland in grey February. I remember Johan [Cedermark] recording the mist and making the beat out of it. 'Cheetahs' is about growing up in the woods and creating your own worlds."
