Sports Team revel in British summer values with new single "Margate"
Harlesden's Sports Team get nostalgic over British summertime with punchy new single "Margate".
Sports Team have created a positive ruckus since their debut track "Stanton" arrived in November last year.
Off the back of their infectious offering "Kutcher", the Harlesden lads have revealed their latest offering "Margate", which focuses on the traditional values surrounding British summers in a fun demeanour.
Their guitarist Rob Knaggs explains, “"Margate" is a song about English summers. Hosepipe bans. Overgrown hedgerows. Frayed tempers. The season of Reeling in the Years and tailbacks on the A303. We went in to record it with Burke during the first group stage games, when things were looking up. Some of that optimism rubbed off.”
The video is directed by Kris Rimmer, the same who provided the visuals for "Kutcher".
Alongside their new single "Margate", the group will be performing at Margate's Tom Thumb Theatre on 3 August, with transport from London provided by Sports Team themselves. They explain, "to mark the occasion we’ll be taking a coach down to Margate. Never let them tell you rock has lost the glamour.”
