South Korean post-rock outfit Jambinai sign to Bella Union
South Korean post-rock outfit Jambinai (잠비나이) have signed to Bella Union and announced some UK/EU dates.
The trio, formed while studying traditional music at South Korea's National University Of Arts, wanted "to communicate with the ordinary person who doesn’t listen to Korean traditional music."
Bomi Kim plays the "fiddle-like haegum", Ilwoo Lee brings guitar and piri (a Korean bamboo flute), while Eun Youg Sim adds geomungo, a Korean zither. Speaking about the group, Lee says: “We’re darker than other Korean traditional bands."
The band will release their new album this summer on Bella Unino.
Jambinai have been confirmed for a slew of European festivals, including The Great Escape in May, and a headline show at London's Corsica Studios.
