SoundCloud launches subscription service, SoundCloud Go
SoundCloud have launched their own streaming subscription service, SoundCloud Go.
SoundCloud Go will allow offers users access to an extensive library of music as well as access to music published solely via SoundCloud.
A key feature of this service is the ability to make playlists of music both regular and SoundCloud only. "It feels very different when you can have one playlist with everything you want," CEO Alex Ljung states, "whether it’s back catalog Drake or a beef track he just recorded."
The SoundCloud catalogue includes 15 million songs, which might sound impressive enough, but is half the size of the library offered by competitors Spotify, Apple Music, or Tidal.
The introduction of the service will not impact how non-subscribers use the site, as all SoundCloud only tracks will remain free to access.
SoundCloud Go will cost users $9.99 per month.
