Sonar Sao Paulo cancelled due to Brazil's financial crisis
Sonar have announced that the Brazil leg of their 20th anniversary celebrations has been pulled due to the country’s financial “difficulties and instability”.
The main Spanish festival is set to take place in Barcelona during June, but had booked a series of worldwide offshoot events in the run up.
Among these were fests in Tokyo, Osaka, Reykjavik and Sao Paulo, but now this latter date has been cancelled.
Sonar’s official statement pins the blame on “the latest difficulties and instability in the Brazilian entertainment market.”
Luckily no refunds are needed as the tickets were yet to go on sale.
The acts had been expected to include the likes of Explosions In The Sky, The Roots, Nicolas Jaar and Jamie Lidell.
