Sónar Reykjavík cancelled after Wow Air ceases operations
Iceland's Sónar Reykjavík music festival has been cancelled after Wow Air has grounded all flights amid financial difficulty.
Back in February, Sónar Reykjavík added Octavian DAWN, Vök, and more to its 2019 lineup. Now the festival has been cancelled after budget airline Wow Air has halted operations after financial struggles (via The Guardian).
The cancellation of the festival arrives as the airline was due to bring festival-goers and artists performing.
When Wow Air announced its collapse, the festival uploaded a statement to Facebook revealing, "The Sónar Reykjavík team is doing all it can to collect more information about the situation. We will update this information accordingly."
While there's no official statement from the festival about the cancellation just yet, RÚV Iceland and Grapevine Iceland reports that those with tickets will be refunded.
